sup everyone, i just did the Block off mod on the FIAV hoping it would end my surging and vaccum leaks. well needless to say it didn't work unless i messed up along the way. i followed instructions accordinly and i also replaced the Throttle body shaft seals as well. i started the car and it jumped up to 2500 then almost to 3k. i'm like wtf!? i had a thin paper gasket betweent the throttle body and the intake manifold, because all the other ones i was using ripped apart. could it be that the thin gasket is not sealing all the way? also for the coolant lines on the FIAV are they supposed to be plugged individually?I have it setup so that they are plugged together instead of separte. i routed the coolant line from the thermostat to the water pipe so there's no coolant going to the TB. i'm in total confusion. i thought i had it done right...need some help.

save yourself the trouble and go to mitsu and get the 1g Trottle body gasktes. That gasket maker stuff is shit. I have the same problem as you and we have decided those make your own gaskets are not sealing. I have yet to put the 1g metal tb gaskets in since i am back home for the moment. But i would suggest trying that. Also make sure you close the Biss screw all the way and then set it to the rpm you want when u start opening it. From what i hear sometimes the problem doesn't go away and you have to switch tb's and then with the other tb it doesn't happen

If the throttle body isn't completely sealed to the manifold it will leak like a sieve and you will have the problem you just identified. Not to mention that it will leak under boost.

Sounds to me like you did the FIAV block off correctly though.
