i got my car over the summer, and the first thing i noticed was the oil pressure was low. took it to a mechanic, had the sending unit replaced and oil changed.......when they changed the oil they discovered it was very very low on oil and thats why the pressure was so low......after all that my oil pressure was great, but recently it has begun to dip a little bit. when driving, it stays noticeably above the first mark (L area) and at idle it occasionally dips below it. then tonight i saw my oil pressure warning light flash on for a second once or twice.......and both times when it happened my oil pressure gauge was right in the middle, above the L mark!!! how can this be? one thing i want to add is i have had an electrical problem that we have had trouble fixing and today i took it in for a diagnostic which revealed i have a faulty throttle position sensor. could this have something to do with my weird oil pressure readings/warning lights? could the TPS somehow be using up my oil much quicker indicating i need a new oil change? my last one was only a few thousand miles ago, but like i said when they went to change it they said it was very low. is it possible my oil sensor wire connection is dirty, therefore altering my readings, and if so if i disconnect it and reconnect could that possibly fix the problem? should i be worried? thanks for all your help.

Have you checked the oil? Maybe it's low again due to a big leak you have somewhere. No blue smoke or burning oil smell?

You most likely have a bad connection on the oil housing for the dummy light. Its only one wire and easy to check.

can you please tell me how to check it? i am not good at all with this stuff........

Your oil filter screws into a housing. On this housing is a small copper colored cylinder thing. To this is 1 wire. The connector slips over the pin the same way a pair of overals work. Once you look at the filter housing you will see. Jiggle the connector a little.

where under the car is this? near what tire? i am still clueless what to do.

Your front driver side wheel. Just get on the ground at look under the car towards the front of your front driver side wheel well. You will see a brass colored round thing, maybe slightly smaller around then a pop can, with a single wire hooked up to it. That is what he is talking about. Your's might not be brass colored cuz it might be dirty and needs to be cleaned off.

Yep. See the small round copper doohicky?
