For the past week I have been trying to figure out what is wrong with my cars charging system. It all started when my voltage went really low (8.9v) so I looked at the alternator and it was covered in power steering fluid. Well since power steering fluid kills alternators I fixed the power steering leak and replaced the alternator with one from discount. I had them charge the battery also. I take the car for a drive and it is at 14.0v so cool, about five min. into the drive it drops to 11.8v, then into the 10's and 9's as I am pulling into the driveway. So like a good DSMer I search the forums and put a new fusable link in (80A) nothing changes. so I charge the battery at my house. I drive to discount and get them to bring the cart out they say it is my power wire from the alternator to the battery, so I put a new one on. nothing. So by now I think it is the battery, it has to be the battery. Well the bi*** at discount will not warrenty my battery because it takes a charge on their machine. so I kill the battery with the lights and acc.'s and then take the battery up there. They give me a new battery and it is still doing the same thing. What the hell is wrong with this thing? This is on a 1991 eagle talon tsi fwd.
Thanks.

curious as well :)
