Ok, so latly my GST has been a PITA. I'll explain. .

Ok, first. When I accelerate from a stop.(Not fast) I slip the clutch nice and slow. The car starts to jerk and it almost feels like the clutch is skipping across the flywheel. If that's possible. It doesn't do it all the time. Mostly when it's cold, but sometimes when it's warm too. Anyone got any ideas?

Also, the car hesitates and bogs alot.
I accelerate in first and get on it a little. Normally the car would loose traction and pull me to the left. But instead it's like the turbo doesn't kick in. The exhaust gets louder, and it sounds like I'm going fast. But the power just isn't there and the car has almost NO pick up. This happens in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. This only happens some times though. Hardly ever in 3rd.

Another case of the car kinda hesitating is when I'm cruising on the highway at 70ish in 5th gear. I give it a little extra gas to pass someone and the car jerks and gains, then jerks and gains speed a little more. Again this only happens sometimes.

Yet another time the car starts acting ###. . Sometimes when I get on it in 2nd gear the car picks up fine and goes. Then hesitates REALLY bad! And backfires and doesn't wanna go over 4500 rpms.

I already changed the plugs and wires about 2 months ago.
I checked for boost leaks and inspected the intercooler &pipes
The car has 157k(almost 158K) on the engine and tranny
The top end was rebuilt due to valves and pistons hitting from a bad t-belt job.
Stock fuel system. .
Noticable cracks in the exhaust manifold(can feel exhaust comming through them.
Noticable exhaust leak at ex. mani and cyl. head(bad gasket maybe)
Maybe and exhaust leak at the turbo and ex. mani(another bad gasket?)

The car isn't going to be driven through the winter. So I have time to find the problem and fix it. I was stupid for not doing maintience stuff before performance. And now I think I'm paying for it. . Please help me find the problem. M dad thinks the hesitation could possibly be a near clogged fuel filter??

HELP! DSM reliablility has bitten me in the ass!!

On another note, I drove the Laser today(For the first time in a month or more) And god it felt good to have no problems and instant pick up. . 63k on the clock. . And I get to drive it over winter. Thank god for N/T DSM reliablility!

would bad cam timing also give him the same results while it was in neutral and he gave it gas? in other words it could rev fine in neutral, but then buck while driving?

Its your ECU, as it was stated above. I will bet $5(THE BIG BUCKS) that if you take your ecu cover off and check the caps, your gonna find liquid. Replace the caps and it goes away.

PS- I had to do it to mine.

Yeah, mine did the same too, replaced the ECU caps and everything went smoth afterwards, but in case the ECU isn't the problem, could be dirty injectors or fuel filter problem...

Good luck. and let us know what was your problem when you finally fix it so other members know if this happen to them.
