i drove to work and everything was fine. when i was on my way home, i get about 2 minutes from work and my clutch pedal gets mushy. i checked the fluid and there's was none in the reservoir i fill it back up but it was still mushy. so i looked to see if there was something was under the pedal but all i found was fluid all over the floor by the clutch pedal. what do you think broke. thanks

yep, the master cyl. needs to be replaced. The reason the clutch didn't come back after you added new fluid is likely because when you ran the cylinder dry air got into the line. so the new fluid didn't help much even as a temporary fix...but don't worry, since you're changing out the master you get to bleed the lines anyway.

Should be able to get a rebuild kit for the master cylinder for cheap.
Might as well replace the slave cylinder too, because chances are it will start leaking/already is because master/slave usually go out around the same time.
