i cant get my oil pan gasket to seal. it keeps leaking at the same point under the oil pump gear. its weird the oil pan is off-set(from the front case) there and there is a small hole on the front cover(i think its a return of some sort) the sealing area is small but i thought there woudn,t be any pressure there so it should seal fine. i have tried just sealant and then sealent and a gasket and tht still didn't work. its the only leak on the whole car after i rebuilt it. it leaks at a pretty steady rate. any info will help thanx steve

could be your front cover is leaking.. that would be a real PITA to replace that gasket but sounds to me that might be the problem...

you shouldn't even need a gasket. black rtv should be all ya need. if it's still leaking then it's the pan (bent) or something else. not sure what you're talking about though when you speak of a hole and a return  at any rate, are ya sure there isn't something leaking behind the timing belt cover? something as far up as the cam seals could leak down and do it maybe. just tryin to give some advice. hope it helps.

Be sure that you replaced ALL the bolts in the front case (there are a lot), and that they are torqued to the correct amount (use a torque wrench). It is very possible that oil will leak from around it if all the bolts are not torqued right. Go around two or three times with the torque wrench to make sure.

Here's a pic of my oil pump cover. The small green circle is where I was missing one 10mm bolt causing my oil leak. The green oval near the oil pan is where you say you're leaking and, like the post above, it may be due to a bent oil pan that is not sealing correctly. It's sort of a long shot but there's a crank seal which may be leaking as well. My suggestion to you is take the timing belt off and use a 14mm socket and a drill to turn the oil pump. It'll build pressure enough for you to see where exactly it's coming from. Good luck.
