ok, so on this 97 gst that i have i was driving it and all the sudden it died, it runs like it does when its on 2 or 3 cylinders or like it does when the maf is unplugged, and i smell alot of gasoline comming out of the exhaust.

anyway i noticed a little smoke and a little smell of electrical stuff messing up when it happened, the smoke came from somewere in were the cd player goes, there are lose wires but it looked like none of them touched anything so i am wondering if its something else??

here is a list of thigs that i have all ready checked,

good compression, good spark, obviously its getting fuel, i swapped mafs, swapped power tr units, checked all fuses, all injector clips are getting the pulses to them, all ic pipes are in tact, no lose plugs or clips, vacuum hoses are all fine,

the codes it pulls are as follows,

p110-IAT circuit malfunction

p100-volume air flow circuit malfunction

p105-barometric pressure circuit malfunction

could the ecu be messed up? what about all those little relay type things by the ecu? if you have any suggestions at all i would appreciate it, thanks[:D]

It is most likely not your ECU. Check the connection at the MAF sensor, you either have a broken wire at the connector or the connector is not properly seated. It may be a bad sensor, but I doubt it. The 2G sensor is pretty reliable in my experience. All three of those codes relate to the Mass Air Flow sensor.

well i know the connection is fine, maybe a broked wire that i cant see somewere? but i think it has to have something to do with the smoke from inside the car, i just cant find any wires that are burnt.. damn this is confusing.. i will check to make sure the wires are good tomorrow, any other comments?

Try clearing the codes and reruning the car to see which ones come back. If the baro and IAT come back, start checking the continuity of the wires going to the mas from the ecu. If the maf is fine and there are no breaks in the wiring, its a posibility it could be a problem with the ecu.

I apologize, I completely missed the part about the smoke. There is a very good chance your ECU is fried. You will need to remove it (it is behind the stereo near the very front of the center console). Remove it and see if it smells like rotted fish. If so it is most likely junk, and time for a replacement.

ok, thanks guys, i will check for the smell tomorrow, and how would i go about checking the continuity? is there a vfaq? or would it be in the chilton book or what? thanks guys, also anyone else have anything to add ??? thanks for all the help :) :dsm:

ok, turns out it was the ecu, damnit... does anybody have one f/s? and do you think this just randomly happened? or like some wires crossed or what?

ok, so the ecu was not the problem... anyway, now the car pulls up these codes

p105 barametric preasure circuit malf

p110 IAT circuit malf

p115 ect sensor malf

damn this is starting to piss me off.. anybody have any other ideas? could it be sumthin like the cas? cause i have a 95 motor and sensor wired up the were the 97 would go.

hmm, i swapped the coil pack also.. so its not that, i tried a different ecu and it does the same thing so it cant be that, i see no sighns of wires melted or anything, hell i am about out of options
