Internal oil cooler

I have a 7-bolt turbo engine without the internal oil cooler, because it used to be a n/t.
I'm thinking about installing one. How does the coolant run through it? Is their coolant lines, or does the coolant run through the cooler though an internal block passage?

There are coolant lines that run into it via the two water stubs on the outside of the cooler. It flows though lots of little passeges inside that look like this:

Can the cooler part be added to my oil filter housing, or do I need to buy the housing with the cooler?

Is an oil cooler that nesesary when using a good quality synthetic oil?

I was thinking about wraping a coolant hose around the turbo drain pipe. That would help a bit.

Anyone know if the cooler is sold individually? or only with the housing
