I was just wondering how do you Prep your motor for a much bigger turbo upgrade?? I was told if i change my turbo to a bigger one i was have to upgrade my internals... how do that and what does it cost??? I have the 4g63 Cyclone turbo.... It came with forged pistons and a ported intake manifold.. i've got a front mount intercooler, and things like that but i want more air... can i do that?

alot depends on your goals for the car. There are many turbo options out there. Some dont require forged internals such as the 16g. Also the fuel mods you have done or are going to do will affect the turbo you choose.

I'd check compression, check belts, fluids, plugs, wires, etc...make sure your car is in optimal running condition before you start throwing some serious power into it. A little problem now can turn into a major problem later.

As long as you have a good solid block with good compression you should be alright. I am going to a FP 3052 this summer coming up and only have stock internals. I hope to put down 350 AWHP with this setup and then go from there. The only I would be concerned about would be headgasket...and thats just my opinion.

well said bro.

Its been our experience that no internals are needed until you hit about 400hp. We have a local customer with a 95 GSX with 480whp with 110k on the clock (stock block) and it ran like a champ till about 170k.

As long as you have an engine with good compression and good working order you will be fine. Once you go over 400 its nice to go ahead and atleast do pistons. then again once you have the block opened up might as well go all out.

Best of luck with your project.
