I have 130,000 on my car assume original motor. It seems to run fine but also think going thru a quart for sure every thousand miles and maybe even every 500 miles.I am running 10-30 amsoil synthetic. The car doesn't seem to blow any oil out back and doesn't seem to be leaking it.I have an open breather catch can system .I can smell some oil when on it hard but this is normal I think with open breather catch can.

My plugs are bone dry also. Is a quart in 1000 normal.I do drive it hard and like to keep the revs up a lot driving around in second in town and usually fourth on the highway.I have brand new turbo and sure its not blowing out oil.Can valve seals still cause higher oil consumption without really noticing it? Should I go up to 10-40.I only will likely put maybe 7500 miles a year on this car.A quart every thousand would be acceptable at what the synth costs but a quart every 500 will get a bit expensive.

Are you sure nothing is blowing out of the back? Heat up the car...run it around, and come back and park it. Since everything is warmed up, put a board, peice of *paper*, or cardboard by the exhaust pipe, generally a foot or so away. Paper works the best because you can see everything that hits it. Have someone rev the motor pretty high, 5 to 5.5 x 1000rpm. Smell around, watch the paper. If oil is being ejected you'll smell it and see it. And if it is bad, imagine what the oil consumption would be when you have load on the engine and it starts to heat up everything. Lert me know.
