First off my cars runs great if I go easy on it. It idles fine and drives great. If I floor it around 5-6k it will stop pulling and run like crap. In fact it will alomost die and sometimes die. After it gets down to idleing RPM it runs, but almost dies 500 RPM idle. IF I shut the car off and wait a little it will run fine again until I floor it. If I shift around 3500-4000 it runs fine. It also pulls very hard all the way up to 5500-6500. I just don't know what it could be

things I have replaced

ECU put another one in, checked both for leaking caps, booth were fine
Plugs brand new with 25miles on them (had to replace two because the had bent electodes
compression test 155-165 in all cylinders
New wires
It has a new head with 25 miles on it
New t-belt and other t-belt componets 25miles on it
ARP studs 25 miles on them
Fuel filter 25 miles on it
New gas in tank
Iso heet
injector cleaner (gumout)
New EVO mainifold with egt tap plugged up 25 miles old
Turbo seems fine pulls hard, but havn't installed the boost guage yet, because not sure if it's safe to drive
All topend gaskets replaced
Timing set right on 5btdc

After i had pulled the plugs 1 was white which would be lean (right) When I pulled it the second time it was black as could be, but it was bent shut so it couldn't fire. These are NGK stock range. Could the injector be bad and can't keep up with the engine? but be fine for regular driving??

Next plans swap out injectors and fpr
swap out ingntion system
swap out intake system
do a boost leak test

I have a parts car with these items


Any other input would be great. I really need to figure this out, also it's stock as can be except for the evo manifold

Also I'm getting a logger ASAP, just want to fix this so I can drive it

Forgot to tell it's a 1990 GSX 5 speed and yes i put another 5speed ecu in it

Somethings about your post scare me. No boost gauge? From the sounds of it, your car might be running really lean and knocking, which will put tons of timing and make the car feel sluggish. A boost leak test would be the first thing I would have done, and should be your next test.

Since it's stock and I bought it with a broken t-belt I haven't had time to install the guage. Even if I install it it won't be safe to see how much boost I'm making, because of the lean issue. I know all about lean causing knock causing timing pulled, causing loss of power, but wouldn't it come back after I backed of, because it doesn't until I restart the engine

Well I found one problem the coil pack, had a few wires (i think red yellow, and white that had the coating melted off causing the current to jump to the intake, which in turn made the spark plug not fire as strong. I also replaced the fpr and fuel injector in cylinder one because the plug was sorta white. It runs a lot better, but backs off power in the higher RPM's and idles around 500-600 for a while. It doese how ever pull it's self out of it, unlike before, I still won't drive it until the boost guage is installed. It seems the plugs are ok a little blacker than usual, but fine. the only one still that is white is the 1 cylinder. Not sure what to do from here, Would a intake leak or boost leak cause all to run rich except the 1 cylinder? I almost have the bugs out of it for now, but still not quite there.

PS getting the coil pack and other ignition componets back in is a pain in th A$$
