oil pump sprocket???????????????????????

alrite. So this is my second rebuild of my head. i was dinking around after i got the head bolted back on and i realize that my oil pump sproket was kind of hard to turn. it took some effort to turn it.

Is my oil pump bad? or is it just because there is no oil in the car at the moment? or is it the cold?

Just thought id ask before I either #### something up or have to go buy a new oil pump.

How hard are we talkin? There should be SOME resistance because that sprocket also spins the balance shaft but it shouldnt be that hard.

If it is really hard to spin, it could be a bad bs bearing galling on the shaft itself.
