Aternator fuse questions..

Ok I have the classic symptoms of a bad alternator.Batteries die within a few minutes,lights in dash dim and car starts bucking and barely running and then dies out.

I tested and have like 10 volts coming at battery when car is running.

Since alternators are big money and did lots of reading about it and found out sometimes its just a blown alt fuse.Well here is the deal.I looked at the 100amp alt fuse and it looks ok,not really sure how you pull that one out .The other ones just pull out but that one seems to have a trick to it.It looks ok but want to take it out and try another one in there just in case.
Also I did find a blown 30amp fuse a few fuses away,its marked alt sens and something alt and it for sure is gone.Just borrowed one off something marked belts I think my car has the manual belts not auto assume that is what the belt fuse if for.So can the 30amp fuse I found blown marked alt also cause the alt to not charge up the battery??

I am really hoping it can.
 
My car has every symptom of bad alternator.But read on forums that there is a 100amp alt fuse in the fusebox.I checked it and it appears good but unlike the other ones how do you get that alt fuse out for closer inspection and put it on my meter.?

Also I do have a blown 30amp fuse a few fuses over ,the cover says alt sens and alt something I think.Is this one also important and could this blown for sure 30amp cause my alt problems of no charge getting to the battery??
 
Both fuses will cause alt like problems. I had to learn the hard way I replaced my alt ( oh how fun was that) and the battery still went dead then I got the book on my car replaced the fuse and bam back to normal :thumb: replace both fuses if that doesnt work take your alt in and get it tested and if it's bad replace it :thumb:
 
Update.changed out the 30 amp fuse that I was talking about.I also changed the 100 amp althought it looked fine and tested fine and cleaned off the ends going into the 100 amp.

I am using my logger on the car to check voltage..not a multimeter..not sure if this works or not.Anyway car off battery read about 12 volts.Car on the voltage started at 12 and then went down as turned on stuff and think at end of idling it for a bit it said like 10 something.So guessing this means my alternator is pooched like I think.It would have been sweet to have just a blown fuse but I never have that kind of luck. :cry:

I am debating getting a salvage alt or a rebuilt or springing for a brand new mits one.
I have heard the bosch rebuilds are junk although they have 5 year guarantees on them but they are very pricey.
 
I bought a bosch premium alt on sale.It was 210 canadian plus core charge.It is 90 amp not 75.I installed it tonite.My car is running 1000% better than it has for a long time.I thin it was messed up and idle is smooth as glass betting my tuning numbers will look better.I think the dying alt has been causing problems like fuel starvation and igniton misfiring ,all sorts of trouble.Throw a new big battery in tommorrow as extra insurance.

Anyway not sure what that 30 amp alt fuse does.I put in brand new 100 amp and cleaned terminals in there also just to feel good about that fuse.
