Radiator Light stays on even though coolant is full?

I've been having issues since I replaced my radiator - the lower pipe kept spontaneously spewing coolant for no reason - so I kept loosing coolant and the light would come on. Well, after the last time - the light won't go out, even though the system is full and the overflow bottle is well, overflowing.

The float switch in the overflow bottle likes to stick from all the junk that has settled to the bottom over all these years. I had to wash mine out with really hot water soapy until I disolved and removed all the crap and the float freed up.

So what, you either have shorted the wires or the float is stuck since you say the overflow is full.

Well I was wondering if that was the ONLY thing that goes to that light - whether any other parts of the radiator/cooling system have any effect on the outcome of that light - trying to see whether or not I may have a broken switch or sensor anywhere else.

I guess you were right Steve - after driving the car about 40 miles, the light finally went out - so I guess the float got unstuck. Onto the next problem...
