Did the waterpump buy the farm?

Hey everyone, hopefully you can give me some insight on to what happened here. I had just got off the highway after a two hr trip with I noticed some smoke coming from under the hood. The temp was going up pretty fast so I stopped and popped the hood. Coolant was leaking out under the alternator/power steering pump area. I think that is where the water pump is, right? Anyways, I refilled it with coolant and limped it home.

My question is, what failed? Was it the water pump or just a gasket? What do I need to replace? On a side note, are there any electric water pumps/installation kits out there? Thanks in advance.

Could be the W/P itself, could be the gasket, could be the water pipe that goes from the W/P to the radiator - you'll just have to tear it apart and check.
