(Autolite) Spark plugs will not come out!

Removed the Bosch plugs that were in the car because they were fouled. NAPA didn't have any NGK BPR's in stock so I just bought some 89 cent Autolites.

Now that I have all the bugs worked out of the car (I hope) I went to remove the Autolites to put a set of NGK's in. My socket will not grip them! This is the same one I used to remove the old plugs and put these Autolites in. They're not in there very tight and I used antisieze. I've tried two differnt sockets....I'm afraid of stripping the plug. Help!

You're using the right size socket right? I know that there are two different sizes of plugs out there.

I'm using the same 13/16 plug socket that I used to remove the old plugs and put these in. It's the right size. It just won't grip them to pull them out.

Does your spark plug gasket have an internal rubber bushing (to facilitate removal of the spark plug once it's free from the threads in the head)? If it does, check to make sure that it's correctly installed and be sure to push the socket down hard enough on the plug so that the rubber bushing will grip the plug. If that's not it, try another size spark plug socket.

I've tried two different sockets, one spart plug socket (without the rubber) and one just normal socket.

Take a look down the spark plug hole and verify the size. I see a lot of cars come through with 5/8 plugs in them bought at a store that had not much of a clue.

If I recall right, Autolites are the smaller of the two spark plug socket sizes, 5/8" I believe.?
