For some reason the cable is really loose. If I open the butterflys at the TB the cable pops out of the groove. How to I tighten it?

If you open the throttle plate by using the accelerator peddle I bet it would not pop out of place. Throttle cable adjustment is only checked and changed when the throttle plate is closed for a reason.

Okay then, how much slack should the cable have? All the cars that I have worked on, the cable really doesn't move around very much.

I have never had a problem with the cable popping off when I manually "blip" the throttle with any other car.

i dont mean to jack your thread but i jus got my logger 2 days ago and all my logs show the tps at 95.87% at wot. How can i fix this? My afc shows 100% so i dunno but i am sure the logger is more accurate.

thanx

The AFC just shows its the highest value it sees as 100%. The logger is accurate. You will need to adjust your throttle cabe at the intake manifold.

The AFC doesn't give you a true throttle reading. It takes the low and the high and figures it out from the given values.

You will never see 100% throttle from the logger either (I can't remember why). I think anywhere from 95-97 is normal.

Manually open the throttle all the way and check the logger. If you get a much higher reading then you have a problem. If it is close then you are fine.

I bet you would like to know how to adjust the cable though! (hint hint)

You cant see 0% on the logger, its impossible. Adjust it so that the logger reads 9% at idle, and 100% at WOT.

If you look on top of the IM, you will see two bolts holding the throttle cable down, loosen them both up and pull the slack out of the cable, tighten it up. :thumb:

What is the "IM"? Intake Manifold?

Hate to dredge up an old thread but I was having this problem as well where I could rev it at the peddle and it wouldn't fall off but at the buttlerfly it would fall off. At some point I must have bent the cable a little or something because it didn't do this when I bought the car. Well tonight I finally got pissed off and took the cable assembly off from where it was connected at the intake plenum/adjustment point and looked at the cable. I cleaned it up and used some pliers to straighten it out the best I could. The end of it by the cylindrical piece of metal was bent over so I straightened that as well. When I put it back on I did a quick adjustment and voila, it falls off no more. So you might want to take it off and see if its bent like mine was. hope this helps..
