I have removed the driver side motor mount and placed a jack and woodblock under the oil pan as per VFAQ directions; but I'm ready to removed the balance shafts and this requires the removal of the oil pan and to lower the engine, so what has everyone done in this case? How can I support the engine without the mount or the oilpan?

Anyone ever removed balance belts with the engine still in the car, but without the help of an engine hoist?

you dont need to drop the oil pan to get the balance shaft belt off you can do it with the oil pan still on the car

If you've only disconnected the upper mount.. can just lower the engine.. the other (2)mounts + tranny mount will support the engine. Or you could just support the engine with a jack/wood block under the transmission.
