Hello,

Last night I ran into the situation as follows:

Taking a trip down the freeway in my 90 gsx 5-speed and I decided to use the accel feature on the cruise. The first time I tried the accel the car had what seemed to be a very quick eletrical surge and happened within the blink of an eye. So I thought maybe the car didn't like using the blinker/accel at the same time so I proceded to try accel by itself and it accelerated about 5mph and bam car dies no power to lights except for some interior lighting.

I put it in nuetral pushed clutch down thinking maybe it'd start back up and nothing. Pulled over checked ignition fuse and it's blown. I replace it with a spare and try to turn car over and it blows the fuse again. I'm thinking the cruise shorted something or ecu died somehow?

Here are some things I've tried:

I've taken apart the steering column and unplugged everything but the the connections for the ignition itself and still blows the ignition fuse.

I've checked all other fuses and tested the relays under the hood.

I disconnected the plug under the hood for the cruise.

I took out the starter relay on the driver side kinda in the area where the fusebox is inside the car and from what I understand it should only give a reading when a certain 2 of the 4 prongs are touched anyone know the exact way to test this cause I'm getting readings on all prongs whereas the other relay's I have tested only give readings on 2 of the 4 prongs....

NOTES:
Car has ran beautifully for weeks now and I have used the cruise before but haven't use the accel option untill last night.

I just dug up this from a post in 2003 by defiant. "If you have a 4-prong relay, the coil power is through contacts 1 & 3, a 5-prong is 1 & 2."

Say the prongs look like this.

[x][x]
[ ][ ]
The X's meaning the prongs I am testing.
When I test it like that I get a full power reading.

When I test like this...
[ ][ ]
[ x ][ x ]

I get a reading of about 1/3 of full power.(Sorry I forgot the exact reading, 10 something on the voltmeter. )

My bad if this is confusing, trying to figure this one out as I go here. Any info/help is very appreciated.
