my oil light started coming on a couple days ago. only after the car is warmed up and only at idle. as soon as you touch the gas is goes out. also I checked the oil level and its right between the marks on the dipstick. I'm gonna be putting the talon away soon for the winter but I'm just curious about this problem. thanks!
 
Whats your car idleing at? Usually the oil light is oil pressure related. At idle, if the oil pump is spinning slow then pressure will reflect that.
 
Try replacing the sensor for the dummy light they can go bad. I had one that was dripping oil right through the connector of course messing with the connection and gave false readings making the dummy light flicker on when it wasn't supposed to.
 
what weight of oil are you using???.....if its 5w30 or something thin like that use something a little thicker and let us know what happens....... :dsm:
 
Mine does the same exact thing so I replaced the sending unit for the light and it still does it. So I bought an oil pressure gauge when the light comes on it's right around 10psi which is one psi below stock. But my light will come on when I'm cruising down the freeway and I'll be running like 70psi. So I just ingnore the light.
 
I ran a mechanical oil guage in the car tapped at the part of the head where the oil line banjo is for the turbo.

This way I see oil pressure at the top of the head letting me know that the oil is making it all the way into the engine.
 
I use 10w30 oil. actually the light has been doing alot of flickering. sometimes it on at idle, sometimes its off, and somtimes it just flickers. so maybe that sending unit is the problem then. thanks for everyones advise :thumb:

just to let you know, the W does not stand for weight, it stands for winter ;)

"10W" means the oil has about the same properties at 0°F as an oil whose viscosity at 70°F is 10. A 10W-30 oil is one whose viscosity at 70° 30-weight, but acts like a 10-weight oil would when it's cold, instead of thickening up as much as a 30-weight would. I'd give some web resources, but it's hard as hell finding ones that aren't just disguised AmsOil dealers.

i wasn't saying you didn't know it, i was just stating that it stood for winter, becuase most people think it stands for weight and they wrong!
