What's up everybody... just some quick questions about the good ole S-AFCII...
I just got mine on tuesday and installed it fine, no problems. Did all the setup what-not. Started up the car, didn't start, I was told this would probably happen because the battery was unplugged for so long--no sweat. Started it up the second time, no problems: nice idle, smooth running, just like it wasn't even added. I decided it was best to leave the correction alone until I knew exactly what i was doing, and that's where it has remained. Then I turned the car off. This is when all the troubles started. The next time I started the car, I got a Check Engine Light. I'm thinking, Okay somethings wired to it that shouldn't be, maybe it will figure it out and eventually go away, normal. So I turn the car off again, then when I go to start it again, won't start. So I unplug the battery again and reset the ECU. Turn the car to on (but not started) I get a Check Engine Light flash, then twice, then five times, then another five times. I'm thinking that's kind of odd, maybe it's a reset process. I start the car, again back to no problems. Then off, then on--> CEL! I repeated this same three start process like five times. That was tuesday, then all day yesterday, I could start it every time but the CEL would be on every time. I'm getting real confused. I've got the 420A so it's not made for my engine but I read up about all the guys that have done it on 2GNT and here. Another thing I noticed is that the articles on 2GNT say to setup the car as PRESSURE 06 06 (or 07 07) but you guys here all say KARMEN, is this a difference between the 4G63 and the 420A? Help a guy out...

Karmann is used on the 4g63. Try setting it up as recommended by others who have had success.

Knowing the code would help too.

Thanks man. I've got a buddy whose dad's got a shop but I won't be able to get in there to get it looked at until next week... If anyone else has a suggestion let me know. I think I'm gonna try and check all the connections tonight. It has to be someting with the MAP sensor because it kind of stutters now before it dies. Anyway...

Sorry I haven't gotten back to you guys about this, but like I thought it was a problem with the MAP. The code that the ECU is spitting out says that the MAP sensor is out of range. Now, since that is the voltage that you adjust in order to tune the fuel curve that makes sense. Now my only problem is how do I get it to go away? And please don't just suggest that I pull out the blub, because I still want a CEL for when something is acctually wrong...

Try resetting your ECU
Disconnect the connections to the battery, everyone says its only 15 second to reset, but just to be safe i alwaysleave them disocnnected for about 15 minutes. itll go away, causethat clears codes, but it mightcome back due to ur AFC, i know alot of people that have this problem.
