Check Engine Light

My check engine light comes on and off every other day. When it CEL is on, the throttle response is better and the spool is quicker and the pull is harder. The MAS is hacked, the lower comb is removed and the vacuum on top of the air can is capped off, hard intake pipe. Also, when the CEL is on, there is sometimes a little hesitation when it first comes on but after approx. 2 mins. it is gone what gives. I need some input.

All I know is that when my check engine light turns off, stuff starts going wrong.

Get the trouble codes out of the computer and go from there. Drive it as little as you can until you find out what's wrong with it.
