Here is an audio file of the noise my engine is making. I am assuming that it is a lifter tick, so i am just having you guys assure me. Could it be the roller rockers? Like if one of them is not smooth or something?

sounds like lifter tick, my engine dose that to, that could be read as knock on ur logger and can mess up the timing

just like white98tsi said, lifter tick, ether clean them or replace them with the revised ones, and no more tick... Comon on DSM's.

Lifter tick. You can get the revised 3g lifters on ebay from someone named parts dinosaur or something. Do you have phantom knock problems as well?

Nope, i don't think i have phantom tick, i have no clue what that is.

Sounds like lifter "tick" to me as well. My car has been doing it for nearly 80K miles now. As an aside, what kind of exhaust do you have?

EWWW! That is some MAD lifter tick.

Go get some Lucas Heavy Oil Stablizer, that should help quite a bit.

yeah most gst/gsx/tsi have it, the lifters were fixed in the 3gens so ur best bet would be to get some 3gen lifters to get rid of lifter tick for good, or like stockmkt8r said try some Lucas Heavy Oil Stablizer
