I have a 96 eclipse rs and when everytime I brake the car starts vibrating. You can feel it in the wheel and brake pedal. I have had this problem for a little while now, and started doing some research on here, and I did what everyone said...get new rotors. So I just put them on now, and it is still doing it. You can feel it when stopping at 10 or 50, doesnt matter. I am not good at diagnosising things, just fixing. So any thing that you need to know I will tell you....just want to see what is wrong. Thanx

did it still happen right after you replaced the rotors or a week after

if it started a week after don't muscle the lugs nuts torque them buy a cheap $20 torque wrench it will be fine for lugs nuts

stop shaking the steering wheel when brakeing. don't brake on bumpy roads. you may want to check for worn suspension bushings and strut mount. no brake guy can diagnose it with out driving thats why you aren't getting a reply

Stop braking on bumpy roads? As in throw an anchor out the door to stop then?

badboy58: When you did your rotors did you do pads at the same time by any chance? I know that sounds like a dumb question but you never really stated if you did or not.

If your getting shaking in the wheel when braking hard, it's something with the front brakes. Either you didn't clean the hub well enough when you put the new rotor on and it's on an angle, or you didn't change the pads, or didn't shim them properly. Regardless something is wrong and you need to get in there and re-evaluate your brakes.

Which rotors did you replace?

It could also be the rear drums. Most of the time we only warp the fronts but it could also be the rear. When driving down the road, apply the regular brakes to make sure the condition is still present. If it is, let off the brakes and speed back up a bit. Then, LIGHTLY, apply the parking brake and see if your shimmy returns. Remember not to apply them too hard, you just need light brake application to find this out. If the shimmy is still felt, resurface/replace your rear drums.
