AURUGH.

Yesterday I said, "enough is enough", bought an intake manifold gasket, and started to take out my pansy Cyclone. I hate that little devil.

Anyway, I spent at least five hours yesterday trying to get the bloody thing out, and right now it's still in there. Thing is, the Cyclone manifold is built in three pieces. The manifold, the first length of runners, and the second, which bolt on to the head. I've got all the bolts out but the 10 keeping the last length of runners on the head. Well, the second segmant wants to come apart from the third, but it can't because it runs in to the A/C compressor; it rides on two long studs that go from the second segment to the third, where a nut is screwed on each end, it needs to clear those to come off. Now, if I could get the first segment apart from the second, I could simply hacksaw off the studs and get the whole thing off.

But for some inexplainable reason, the first and second segments WILL NOT come apart. There are NO bolts holding it, but it does have the same sort of studs running from the first segmen through the second, where nuts are meant to be screwed. They look rusted. But I spent hours trying to wedge those things apart and so far it hasn't budged at ALL. It's got me so frustrated.

I have classes on monday, and this is my only mode of transportation. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get this thing off without having to jack up the car and remove the A/C compressor? I'd REALLY, REALLY appreciate it.

all you have to do is take off the 2 14mm nuts on the sides, and take off the 12mm bolts holding the intake to the head.

it is essential to remove the coil packs, and what AC compressor are you using?

i took mine off in 30 minutes with a 12mm and 14mm wrench, the bolts in the middle on the bottom are a bi***

take off the fuel rail and the throttle body first.

Hrm. How do you reach the nuts on the underside?

I've got the throttle body, fuel rail, coil, and all that taken off already. I can clearly and reach all the top nuts, along with the 14mm ones on each side, but how do you reach the bottom ones?

I've got the stock 90' A/C compressor on it. No belt 'cause it wouldn't line up properly on the JDM A/C mount.

WOO! It's off! It's off! It's off at last!

-Consumate celebrations-

Thanks a million Paxin. I was able to reach all the nuts on the underside, but I lacked the strength to crack 'em loose. S'pose that's what muscular pops are for.

Again, thanks man.

I'll probably be back in a few hours when I need help putting the stock manifold back on. C:
