I just installed a type S BOV on hard pipes, played with the adjustment screw till it seemed good, then I get on the car, and it was pushing over 20psi!!! I am running the stock turbo, with internal waste, i thought that would stop the car from pushing over 15psi, am I required to run a MBC? please help, I don't wana blow anything here....

No, I do not have a boost controller of any sort yet. Thats on my list, but not yet. I was under the impretion that I didn't need one to install the typeS. or do I? could this spike be coused from haviing the adjustment screw to tight/loose?

Thats weird, you shouldnt be spiking jus because you installed a type S. And no you dont have to have a boost controller with a BOV

ok, so I tightened the screw all the way, I got a lot of compressor surge, and it was blowing off at very little boost, like 1psi. So I started loosening it, now its at 11threads showing, i am still getting some compressor surge, and it still just keeps boosting, my guage only goes to 20psi, so it might actualy be hitting higher, as soon as I see the needle pass 15psi I let off anyway. So I am not sure if its just a spike, but if feels like its constant....I can't seem to figure this out at all. I will order a boost controller if thats what it takes, but from my understanding, its not neccisary for this mod. I did not do anyhting to the waste gate, so I can't see how that would malfunction at all....plesae, any ideas would help.

I'd check to see if the WG is stuck closed or something? Or check the vacuum lines to the WG, might have gotten kinked during the install of the BOV and messing with the piping in that area. A BOV itself will not raise the boost. And getting a MBC won't help since it only raises boost! :p

The only thing I can think, is that the boost guage is off.... when the car is off it sits at 0, when started and not in gear, it sits at -11, if I am in gear, and coasting it sits at -20. But from searching the forums it said no 2 DSM's are the same, vacume should sit ANYWHERE between -10 and -20... All I know is that this morning the guage stoped right at 15psi, after changing the pipes and the BOV(not touching anything else) it's going as high as it wants.... Should I invest in a new guage?

Just put the stock pipe, BOV back on the car...it works fine....stops right at 15psi....my only thought is that the car has always been pushing 20+psi, but the stock BOV leaked everything past 15...with the type S there is no leak, so its reading the real psi...but that doesnt make sinse, couse everything with the turbo is stock....

almost like me but youre getting a freebie.

my first mod was an intake. then i put on a boost guage, at WOT the guage would spike to about 11 and hold 9-10 consistently to redline. then added a 3" catback and it would spike to 13 and hole 11 to redling. then added the greddy type-s and it will spike to 16 and fall to 12-13 to redline.

does yours spike at first then fall back to a certain amount, like do you spike at 20 then fall to 15? or do you hit 20 and stay there. is the car used cause that doesnt sound like a t-25 to me, possibly you have a t28, cross your fingers for that though.

the reason you are hitting more boost with the greddy over youre stock is the stock leaks any more than like 12. with a better bov it can hold lots more boost without leaking.

Have you checked to make sure the vacuum hose is still attached to the wastegate actuator.? Perhaps, your stock BOV was just opening previously, and you didn't realize that it was pushing soo much boost.

Next.

Possibly the actuator arm came off somehow and jammed the wastegate closed.. Check to make sure it is still intact and functioning.

Its the Stock 25, and no, changing the BOV, or any mods to the car for that matter will not effect the boost in any way at all. The boost is only controlled by the waste gate. On the stock turbo it is set to open at 15psi. So even though this type S can handle much more boost, the waste gate should still be opening at 15psi to let it out. The only mod that will effect boost is modding/changing the waste gate itself, or adding a MBC, which is basicaly the same thing. Modding the car might couse spiking, but this is constant, and it doesnt stop at 20psi, if I held it WOT it will keep pushing boost till the internals blow around 30-40psi....its not stopping at all....

All the vacume lines are still intact, and the actuator arm looks normal...but how can I "test" to see if it is working porperly?

Still, I went back to the stock pipe/BOV to double check, at it works totaly normal again....I really don't understand this at all...

You do know that some are boost and VAC guages right ? So when your crusing and have decent VAC you will still at like 20-18 psi. Even though its under the zero is not negative numbers it is measuring VAC. Just wanted to check to make sure you knew that.

I just re-installed the BOV with the correct pipe...doing the same thing. From reading some other forums im thinking that maybe my WG isn't working....and my old BOV was just leaking everything past 15psi, now with the type S its not leaking.......But I just don't get it, couse the turbo is stock, and only 1 year old(2k miles on in) is there an easy way to check the actuator and make sure the WG door is opening correctly?
