This is on a 97 Talon TSi AWD 5 spd.

The car was running just fine on my lunch hour, came up to traffic and started out in 2nd gear at about 10 mph, hit the gas and it hit about 4k rpm then started stuttering the idle. Pulled into Checker auto parts store and replaced the plugs and wires. It's still doing it.

When I sit at a stand still with the clutch in and give it a little gas, the RPM's drop and it almost stalls, then the RPM's will come up and I can go. 1st gear revs to about 3k, then I have to shift to 2nd. 2nd goes to about 2500rpm, then it just bucks and stays at 2500prm if I try to rev it more. 3rd and 4th only rev to 2k rpm. Has anybody experienced this?? I'm hoping it's just a vacuum hose or something!

I had a similar problem.

Check the caps on your ECU.

Cost me about $5 to replace mine. You can get them off of Ebay.
