throw out bearing help

Just installed my tranny it is making alot of noise. Am i supposed to lube my throw out bearing? I caked it with lube can that cause the bearing to make noise. It is a reused bearing by the way. I will buy a new one anyway. i need to know if i should just install it or lube it up first.

It should never be lubed (it's internally greased). In fact, lubing the outside of it will most likely run down on your clutch disc and ruin it.

thats weird cause i forgot to lube my tob upon reinstall, and took all kinds of flack from many people about it... are you sure theyre internally greased?

There are a ton of people who use grease on the inside lip of their t.o.b's and input shafts....I used grease when installed mine and it has been niose and trouble free. I dont see how it could be a threat to the clutch disk if you apply it properly and not over do it. Sounds like your problem is the re-used tob.....good luck with it, let us know if a new t.o.b fixes it.

Ya I guess that's ok if you don't overdo it like he says. I put some on the fork and the shaft the bearing slides back and forth on but never on the pressure plate fingers.
