Bad Speaker wires?

About a year ago my front passenger speaker blew. I never replaced it, but I took it out and left the wires hanging since. Today my other front speaker blew so I went to get replacements. The front drivers side works fine, but the front passenger speaker wont work at all. Could letting the wires sit for that long damage them so that it wont send sound through it? What can I do to fix this problem? I was told rewire the whole thing, but that is gonna be a ton of work.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Cut off the exposed part of the wire and strip the ends of it so new, shiny wire is exposed. Then from there hook up your speaker and see if it will work. If not I am not sure what to do.

Yea, I already tried that. Maybe I didnt cut enough off.

Infinity system or no? When you left the wires do you mean with the plug on the end or bare wires. If the wires were bare it could have shorted out and blew the channel. Other than that I don't know, use a volt meter and see if you have power running thru the wires.

It shouldn't effect it as long as you did what you did(cut the exposed wire off wich oxidized over time). check the wires in the harness see if anything looks loose. If you can sick an ohm meter on the speaker wires to see if its a bad wires or if your just not getting a signal out from the deck. OH make sure your balance isn't shifted all the way to the drivers side. Good luck.

Yes, its an Infinity.

I'll take a voltmeter to it tomorrow and see what comes up. What readings should I expect to see if a signal is/isn't going through the wire?

If the wires are good they'll read short Flip it to continuity test...if it beeps the wire will work. If the wires read high ohms(just the wires completly disconnected should not read anywhere near 1ohm..more like .02. Measure from the back of the wire harnes to the speaker(with the harness disconnected).
