RearEnd/Drivetrain trouble

Just got done with my car ran it at the track and somthing is wrong with the drivetrain. It feels as though you were geting wheel hop in a rear wheel drive car. The whole back of the car shakes. But it only does this under 10 plus psi. As soon as my turbo spools the whole rear end shakes. When it did it on the track and then I came off then gave it to my friend it didnt do it. Then when we were driving on the way home it started doing it again, any ideas about what it could be? Much help would be great.

from what you are saying, I had the same problem and it was the carrier bearings for the driveshaft. here you go:

I dont know it has A LOT OF VIBRATION. And when I went to drive yesturday and put in reverse and started to pull out it made a thud. I t doesnt feel like the drive shaft is hiting the underside of the car more like the whole back end whats to go flying out of the car.

Jon, this is jason. Just jack it up and see if you can move the drive shaft up, down, side to side, that may be the thud. If its not, then it could be your center diff. Thats not that big of a deal but the way you launched the first time, could of broken it. Call me too would ya?

Yeah, sounds like a broken center differential. Easy fix if it is, you dont even have to pull the transmission. When you make tight turns does it feel like anything is binding?

Yes it does feel like somthing is binding, like in the front right of the car. Then under boost/hard accel. the back end starts rumbling hard. I was with him when this happened, and i think its the center diff also, cus he was chirping every gear, and possibly spinning in 1st 2nd 3rd, and i think i heard it into 4th, he says it felt like i twas to, and i know when the center diff goes you lose awd. I think that sounds right. But i would hope its universal joint or carrier bearing. Jason

Yea Im thinking it now too cuz it binds like a bi*** when you turn. IOts going to the trannie shop tommarow so those guys can fix it for free it is warneteed so. Ill post when it is fixed if it ever does get there.

I doubt if the transmission shop will warranty something like that, but you can try. They will probobly say it broke because of abuse. I just replaced my center diff last month and it cost around $300.00 in parts from mitsubishi.
