Heres the question im putting a 14b swap into a 1g automatic car for my friend he has all the parts all the lines, turbo ,gaskets , exhaust manifold etc all but one thing the turbo ring gasket my friend doesnt have time to wait to order one nor does he have time to port match it can i do the swap without the gasket how much damage would it do.......

any input is appreciated ;)

Thanx for the input now i can finish the job , i thought the same that it should be fine without the ring since like you said everyone who ports the ex man or the turbo runs without it once again thanx time for some work now :thumb:

Quick question on the turbo sealing ring. When I mocked up my t25 to stock manifold with the oem sealing ring, there was a gap between them. The flanges of the turbo and manifold did not meet with the sealing ring in there. I now have the turbo bolted on and torqued down with the sealing ring and FFWD copper gasket and everything is squished together. Is it normal that there should be that gap there before it is bolted tight together?

Edit: The parts the ring sits into on the turbo and manifold did not look deformed in any way that would create this gap. The exhaust manifold was missing part of the lip that the ring sits into, but only a small portion.

The gap between the turbo and manifold without the gasket should be slightly less than the thickness of the gasket I would think. The ring would do no good at all if it was too thin to touch both the turbo and manifold once the gasket was in place; it would be just bouncing around in there. I never run those rings and haven't ran into any issues because of it.

That was my line of thought too. I held the turbo up the manifold with the ring in, and I couldn't fit the gasket into the gap but it was really close. Also, my FFWD gasket is slightly thinner than the stock gasket.
