I have a 91 talon AWD turbo automatic. When I accelerate from a dead stop the car revs up but doesnt move really fast. Maybe 15 mph. It takes about 20-30 seconds of driving to actually get up to speed. This will eventually get me killed as I pull out onto a freeway.
This happens just about every time, and I'm not talkin about burning out, but just pulling out at a normal rate. The car feels like I have a giant parachute hooked behind the car. The car will not get out of it's own way.
So far the fuel pump and air filter has been changed, plugs plug wires are ok, tranny fluid has been changed and car was taken for a test ride by two different tranny shops. They both think that there's nothing wrong with the trans.
My mechanic is baffled. Hooking the car up to the computer reader shows nothing.
Defiant (dsm member) passed onto me that it might be a driveline problem. Possibly failed viscous coupling.
Any and all help with this mystery will be greatly appreciated.
