Where should my talon tsi oil pressure be at when at idle....my stock needle sits a little above the the L tick on the gauge and when driving around 2500rpm will sit right above the 2nd tick and anything over 3rpm it will sit around the top of the little oil can thing in the gauge. is this normal or what? my friends stock tsi awd does the same thing. I was told to try moble 1 syn 15-50 to get the pressure up a little more. please help thanks.

mine does it, i made a post about it a long time ago, along with numberous amounts of other ppl.. not to rag you about it, but use the search button first.

Please note that "Use the search option" is not an appropriate response. Please link to a thread that properly addresses the concern.

Your problem may be worn bearing surfaces that could cause oil pressure drops at idle, worn/bad oil pressure sending unit, leaking oil sending unit. Also, the wiring to the oil pressure sending unit may have been saturated with oil and causing a bad signal. Check the wiring and make sure it's not soaked. The last thing you should do is hook up an actual oil pressure guage and verify that the pressure is indeed low. Keep in mind that most of the gauges on the dash are NOT very accurate and only get you in the ballpark when it comes to the component they're representing.

Well, one thing to keep in mind about engines is that with the exception of diesel and rotary, they are for the most part all the same regardless of the power-adder. According to Chrysler, though I dissagree, oil pressure is good if it's 5 psi or more at idle. Personally, I like to see at least 20psi or more and it should increase up to about 45-50 psi at higher rpm. The only difference that I could possible see between a n/a engine and one with power adders is the additional areas that require oiling. Even then I don't see the need for increased oil pressure. Just a need to MAINTAIN the pressure in a now larger area.
