belts sqeak only when it has rained?????

my 92 talon has all brand new belts, but everytime it rains and my car was sitting in the rain, when i start it up the belts will sqeal like they need replaced. they are not even a month old. they wont squeel while its raining and i am driving it. they will just do it right when i start my car up after it has rained.

Mine is the same way. I got all the belts replaced and they only squeal/squeak when it's moist out I was just thinking it's just a common DSM thing

i've never had the problem.. have you tried belt dressing? checked tension?

ok my belts only SQUELL!! (grammar?) when it rains or when it is damp outside, i was told maybe i just got to replace all belts, or jus loosen or tighten some, before i do anythin is this normal or what? (ALL BELTS WERE REPLACED ABOUT 6,000 MILES AGO)when it is nice outside (NO RAIN OR MOISTURE) i dont here any of my belts makin this noise...however this noise happens only in 1st and 2nd then goes away in higher gears....and then after 10min of driving...it stops....weird? thanks for any info........

Its probably just your alternator/water pump belt. Just tighten it. I had the same problem. There are two bolts you have to loosen one then tighten the other then tighten the one you loosened first.

If it stops after a few seconds/when you put it in gear, and doesn't squeal when dry, you're all good!

You could put some belt dressing on them and retighten them.

They've stretched a bit. No dressing, just re-snug them.

I tryed all of that stuff and i couldnt figure it out untill i took it to the shop and had every belt replaced and now it doesnt do it anymore. I wish i could tell you what it was.

I do that every 2 w-3 weeks or so and it magically comes back, i think the tensioner on the alt. is the one backing off, im gonna put some loc-tite on it next time.

I have brand new belts and have tightened and re-tightened em, but it still sounds like a hamster running in it's wheel.

Definitely a DSM thing...

Not sure I want to use dressing, isn't it quite messy?

For the longest time i was thinking of asking this question but never got around to asking it, and well i guess i got my answer hahahaha. for as long as ive had my car, on cool moist mornings forget it, squeals like a 2 dollar whore, but usualy after driving for a bit the heat evaps the moisture and it goes away, even after my belts were changed. DEFF A DSM THING
