I have a 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse RS, all stock except for an RActive exaust. I have had CEL on for roughly 3 weeks now. Went in and got it scanned came up with P0301, so I switched the spark plugs wires, cleared the code and drove around for a bit. light came back on, same code P0301. Put in all new spark plugs, cleared the code, yet again another misfire. Don't know shit about cars so bare with me but something weird has been going on with the CEL. While the car is running and I'm stopped at a light the CEL will blink, as soon as I start moving around CEL will stay solid... Can't be the coil otherwise there would be a misfire on cyl1 and 2, so now im clueless. Any suggestions ?

Addition: The car runs fine, I don't have any problems starting it and other than the CEL being on I really don't have any problems. Its more of an annoyance than anything.

I also found some oil built up around all 4 spark plugs, when I find something long enough to get down in there to clean it out im going to try that. But I still don't understand why my CEL is blinking like it is. If a CEL code is set shouldn't the light be constant ?

any ideas ? I think I have it narrowed down to the oil issue or an electrical problem. Doubt it is the oil issue since all 4 spark plugs have oil around them and only 1 is misfiring.
