i was racing some trans am tonight and a car pulled out in front of me in my lane.. i wasnt able to pass the trans am and i was at about 80mph so I slammed on the brakes.. my front tires locked up squeeled like crazy, clouds of rubber smoke went everywhere and LUCKILY I stopped about 2 feet behind the car. It was a CLOSE CALL. I scared the shit out of myself, and I'm sure every driver within that block, but everyone is safe, and its time to get down to business.

I pulled over right after this to let everything cool down for a second, then proceeded to drive, when I noticed my car was tires felt messed up. I took a look at them, and the tread is fine for 80% of the tire, except the 20% that was making contact with the ground during the incident.. any grooves that were in the rubber have been disipated, and it seems like a "flat spot" in the tire.. where the tire is round and where this is, its more of a flat surface. both tires are like this. Are these tires still usable or are they pretty much junk? Thanks.
Mike

Yeah you have flat spots now, sorry to say but they are beat, unless somebody fixes flat spots now? From my experience you just have to replace them or live with it (annoying as hell). But I guess replacing 2 tires is better then replacing the whole front of your car

replace them

running down the track is cool but being a jack@ss on the street.. your not only placeing your car in danger but other people

in my opinion i think ya should have hit them.. then mabey you would have learned something.

have to agree with jolt. hopefully you did scare yourself silly and I hope the tyres cost you a small fortune and you might learn something.
Alternatively, don't change the tyres and everytime you feel the bump, remember how it got there!
Oh, and I would learn how to brake properly and it might not have happened. the pedals in your car are not on/off switches, modulate maan.

If the flat spot arn't toonoticable as in threads arn;'t showng through, to where that is hazardous. but if there is still rubber tread on the flat spots. you night try doing a burnout.. to wear down the rest of the tire.. to make it equal or close to equal... sut a thought :thumb:
