I was running 10/30 high milage in my gst and I noticed that after normal driving my ic piping (all stock) would be hot like the radiator hose hot. Then I switched to sae30w with my last oil change. Boy what a difference! I dont know that Im entirely thrilled with this difference but my turbo seems to like it. Yesterday after a good little race with a guy in an integra, I popped the hood and as the whole motor was ticking and cooling I thought Id grab the ic piping. Cool, it was still cool. ? Im pretty sure that my turbo needs new seals and bearing. Would the thicker oil actually be enough to keep that thing that cool? On the other hand though that oil makes my motor sluggish as all hell. So Im flip floping on whether I should change my oil to something thinner, but not as thin as 10/30. Any suggestions? ideas?
