I just bought a 1990 Eclipse GS turbo for a parts car. The car a a GM o2 sensor on it. It's the exact same sensor that's on my 94 beretta. It is the kind with one wire off of the o2 sensor. But, whoever done this run a wire down into the pig tail itself, and also wired it to the our factory plug for the o2 sensor. My CEL works fine, and goes off after the car is started.... Maybe the plug could have to with the car not running very well under full boost, and getting half the gas mileage of my 90 Laser turbo?? :barf: Give me some ideas guys. Thanks

I'm sorry, what I meant to ask is why would someone wire a GM O2 sensor to our cars??? I know the MAF sensor off of some gms help with power, but is the o2 sensor beneficial???

The GM MAF will only work in conjunction with the MAF Translator. Running a GM O2 sensor with a ghetto-rigged connection sounds to me like someone who tried to get off on the cheep :thumbdown

O2 sensors are different from model to model. Using the incorrect one will just mess up your fuel trims which in turn screws up closed-loop calcualtions for AFR which gives you crappy gas milage / performance.

With Gas > $2/gal.. the savings over getting a new OEM sensor diminishes quickly :dsm:

Sounds like I'll be getting a new "correct" o2 sensor soon. Hopefully, that will solve the problem of my car not running quite right. Thanks :thumb:

Yeah it should, cause the O2 sensor is sort of the ECUs "eye" about whats going on with the a/f ratio, etc, so if it's running "blind" of course it's not gonna run right. It does sound like the previous owner was trying to repair it for cheap. Who knows, maybe your parts car will make a decent daily driver after you replace the O2 sensor!
