Need Help REAL quik...don't pass me up please

Alright, I'm going on a 1300 mile trip today and my car dies after pulling the neg lead on the bat. Is my altenator bad?

Normal, you shoud be ok. Alternators will not sustain car operation. Search for some of my posts, or some Charging/Voltage/Alternator, as some of the info is already on here.

just got back from advanced autoparts. I had them test my altenator. They say the diode is bad? Anyways, I'm gonna replace the old one b4 I leave. The reason I asked the above question is bc we did the same thing (pulled the neg lead off the bat) to our 2001 Rodeo and the car continued to run.

yeah it should still run....one time i didnt have a battery in my nova so i jumped it and drove it 30 miles with no battery

- Alternators WILL sustain car operation - It should run with the Negative Lead off the Battery.

- I had my Bumper to Bumper guy look up the Highest Amp Mitsu Alternator that would fit a 1G:

- Max amperage 121 amps

- 100 amps at 3000rpm

- Max 1548 watts

- Manufacturer Ampere - Ampere P/N 21491

- Cost was about $150.00

- I run a 1 Farad Cap too with an El-Cheapo Battery that pushes a 500 Watt Sony Amp & head Unit no problems - no dimming, etc.

I put it on Car Ramps & come from underneath so no need to remove Fan - It's still a PITA...

Make sure you have NO Power Steering Fluid leaks dripping on your Alt - that will kill the Voltage Regulator in a Heartbeat & can toast your ECU...

oh yeah and #### that damn power steering line - leaks on like every dsm ever

Ampere P/N 21491 - It's all the O-Rings on the top of the P/S Pump & the very tiny ones on the ECU Switch Connector on the front of the P/S Pump that leaked on me.

Yes - the little teeny Bastard between the Pin & the Plug - you have to remove a little external Circlip - remember to note how it all goes back - even the IPB in the Manual sucks!
