starter wont engauge

hey I have a 97 eclipse gst and this winter I pulled the motor (clutch went) well long story short everything is back together and the starter powers up and spins but wount engauge and when you try and turn the car over there is no spark or anything but the starter powers on, all the lights work, power stuff, stereo also when I pulled the motor it ran fine now this can anyone help thanks

The starter bendix (engage mechanism inside starter) is bad.

Unless you swapped-out flywheels, and now have one that the starter can't reach to engage.

God damit I knew something like this was going to happen, the kid I bought the flywheel from originaly told me it was fwd well its not I email him yesterday to find out its an awd flywheel so there goes everything. Does anyone know if there is a way to pull the tranny with out pulling the engine? I really dont want to do that again.

Yes we all do it all the time. It just unbolts off the engine like any other one does. See the manual.
