Car is getting NO FUEL!

My fuel pump doesn't run when I try to start the car, so the result is that the car idles for 1-2 secs, then quits. If I hook my fuel pump directly to a battery, it runs fine, and so does the car. So its logical to assume that either the car isn't telling the pump to start, or it isn't getting power...

I thought to check/replace the pump's relay, only to discover that there isn't one! So does the ECU control it? Do I have to replace the ECU? What else is there? PLEASE HELP ME!

yes the ecu controls it, i just replaced my ecu cause it was bad.by the way there is a relay for fuel pump cant tell u were till saturday cause my book is out side and im not goin to get it now.but my prob was ecu.

I've fixed several ECU lately with fuel pump problems, all caused by leaking caps but different failures depending on which direction the electrolyte went.

The MPI relay has two inputs for powering the pump, one is from the ignitions switch being in the start position and the second from the ECU once it sees the engine running. If the ECU is damaged the car will only run for a couple of seconds and then die.
You can double check this by grounding pin 7 on the MPI relay and if the engine continues to run your overdue for capacitor replacement.
