Here is the deal. He posted this car up for sale on a local DSM site. Here are the problems it has:

Hey, i just did the head gasket on my 90 laser.the ignition timing is on the nuts,as well as the cam timing, its getting fuel and has spark at the plugs. it has new bosch wires and bpr-6es plugs. a guy at rock falls said it could be the caps in the ecu. could it?

What so you guys think it is. I am guessing that he left something unconnected. There is no CEL though. Any ideas? I will probly be checking it out tonight.

"Hey, I cant get it going so im getting rid of it. Its a 90 fwd laser. about 35k on a rebuilt motor.

new t-belt, new battery, polished head and intake manafold, ported 2g exhaust manafold, test pipe, mbc, all free mods done(maf, can, bc, tb bypass, egr blockoff plate)k&n filter, NO SHAFT PLAY( 35k on a rebuilt turbo) multi layer head gasket,new valve seals, plained head, new alternator.

about 10k on a rebuilt transmission, 1 year on a stock clutch, shifts perfect!

2k miles on a set of firestone firehawlks. 205-55-r16

new calipers, pads, rotors(all around)and master cylinder.

new tie-rod ends, and balljoints. needs struts and sway-bar endlinks.

interior is ok, some stains.

now the shell, it is HAGGARD!! some ass plowed in to it in the schools parking lot. its rockin a grey head light and fender on a white car. the hood dose not latch right and has a broken side marker. Some other ass tryed breaking in and now has a plastic sunroof(glued in) the driver side door handle is broke as well as the lock.

after i did the head gasket it has not ran since. now we both know its a POS, but it moved out when it ran and will even more if you get it going.

I have alot of bank in to this car, i want about $1000 obo.(I know its a little much)

some of my friends read the post and said that i made it sound like it got hit buy a train.and should be in a bone yard, its nothing like that at all. at most the core support will need to be pulled back,and a fender and light( because there gray) is needed. I have about $2800in to it not including ine initial price of the car. It has a hell of a lot of good parts. I need it gone to make room for a new car. so the first $600 takes it.

This sounds like a great buy if I can get it running. I need a winter car as my AWD is too unreliable.
 
I checked the car out. I did a compression test with the engine cold. The numbers were very shitty, especially since he had a rebuild done on it. 4-->1 were ~50-60-50-52. He didn't have the crank angle sensor bolted on and said it took him a couple of times to get the timing on. One other thing I noticed was that the power transistor was just hanging there by the timing cover. He said it was like that since he bought the car. Isn't it supposed to be grounded on the head? Sounds to me like it needs valves. Any other ideas???
