Ok here's the story. I just changed the valve seals on my 92 gsx. I put everything back together and started it. It took a few turns of the key but once it got started everything was fine. I let it run for about 15 to 20 min at idle just to make sure everything was fine. It was running fine, it's the best it sounded since I bought the car. Then all of a sudden it just died. So I tried to start it again. Normally when I put the key in acc all the dash light's come on and the boost gauge jumps up. Well this time the boost gauge didn't jump up. I tried to start it a few times then heard some popping or cracking noise. My first thought was ecu since I don't know if they capaciters have ever been replaced. I disconnected the cable in a attempt to reset the ecu. When I reconnected the battery the same problem. The boost gauge wasn't moving and the care wasn't started. Only this time the RPM gauge jumped up to 4k. If anybody can tell me what's is wrong it will be greatly appreciated. My only fear is that I bent valve because I don't want to take it all back apart again. I imagine that if I took the ecu out it would smell if the capaciters have gone bad, is that correct? Will it have some significant markings on the ciruit board? PLEASE HELP!!!

I checked the wiring for obviouse problems and found a couple of loose ground wires and the two wires connected to the positive battery terminal were loose. I tightened them and the got same problem. So I took out the ecu and found out that the caps were burnt to hell. Can this be salvaged and can anybody confirm that those loose wires were the cause of the ecu burning up. I tried to post photos but it woulnd't let me.

It was somewhat luck, but I had the hood open in garage and tried to start the car. The gound that was loose caused a spark. So then I just checked around the engine bay and found another. It was the ground wire that goes from the firewall to the intake manifold. Then the second one I found was from the tranny to the fender. My car turns over but it doesn't start. I checked the diagnostic code on the computer and it said the ecu was bad. So I took it out and the capaciters were burnt. You might want to check the computer code. Where is the clicking noise that you are hearing coming from

With mine I could just tell. It's pretty obiouse when they are burnt up they are black or the bottome of the circuit board will be black. It is possible that yours haven't gone completly bad yet. If it is bad you should get an error code telling you so. Use this link to read the code it should tell you if your ecu is messed up. http://www.vfaq.com/mods/wayback/BradBauer/electrical/code.html
