putt putt putt from exhaust

this is my first thread posted so sorry if hard to understand. My 95 esi talon has 140,000 miles on it and seems to run pretty good. The only problem is when I'm sitting at stop light or something I get this annoying putt putt putt out of muffler. The sound is real rapid but when I'm giving it gas it drives and sounds great. I'm going to remove the cat sometime this weak and see if maybe that was it. you guys have any ideas . I appreciate it.

the same thing happens on my car. does yours sound a little deeper than it should be?
in which case, check for an exhaust leak since i have a big hole about a foot past my cat

yea mine does sound a little deeper than it should, but I checked for exhaust leak --- didn't notice anything. Going knock out the cat wednesday I let you know what happens.

well i knocked out the cat and that wasn't the problem any other ideas appreciated.
