exhaust leak

what's the best way to determine an exhaust leak? i have the stock manifold and downpipe and there seems to be a small hole in the downpipe and the connection between the two is looking kinda gross.

One way you can tell is crank your car at night. Shine a bright light where you think the exhaust leak is. Give it some gas. You will be able to see the leak in the light.

hold a lit cigarette about 6inches from possible hole if it gets brighter you have one
