Im getting a squeeling/whinning noise coming from somewhere, and I can fiqure out where the f its coming from. Heres the scoop.
The faster I move the louder it gets. This noise never goes away when I shift, brake, or turn. Seems like it would get lounder higher in the rpms and louder the faster I was going. Cant remember if it was louder on the higher rpm side, or on the mph side. All I can remember is it was a hell of a lot louder going 50 than 15.
What ive done so far: in order.
-jacked up the whole car, tryed to make the noise manualy by turning each tire-- nothing.
-checked all fluids(tranny, t-case, rear)-- all fine
-took out both axles--fine
-took off t-case--looked fine from outside
-spun drive shaft--fine
-put passenger side axle back in, and re spun to see if noise was coming from the outer tranny case--thought i heard two gears rubbing together.
-took off outer tranny cover--looked fine
-tryed to spin that big balancer, circle looking thing (cant remember the name) -- couldnt spin freely--something seemed to be binding up
-put the 36mm socket on the lower bolt, and started spining, -- wasnt spining freely
-put the 36mm socket on the upper bolt, and turned,-- whinning noise
-keept spinning trying to figure out where this f-ing binding/noise is coming from-- fiqured out it was on the other side of the motor.
--put the 3/4 inch socket on the crank, and turned-- whinning noise
*at this point is where i gave up for the night
This all started after a few 6k pops on my welded diff, and new 2600.
