OK A little background: I went shopping with my best friend for her first car a year ago she got a 1996 oslo green gst, automatic. I have helped her out added some cool stuff on boost gauge, rims, neon lights, 2 different BOV's and an Air box eliminator. It was driven into the back of a blazer three months ago and like a good friend I fixed it (keep in mind all this for free or very little money). I put a new air filter. and bov due to the collision damage to both of them. both fixed, I took it home last night to prep the car for painting due to the damage and I parked it in my driveway after driving 30min to get it home I touched the hood and it was abnormally hot. Then I look at the manifold it was glowing :thumbdown there was no oil on the dip stick at all bone dry. So today I call her mom and dad after speaking with a Mitsubishi master mechanic. My belief the bearings are fried due to lack of oil. that would explain the friction noise reducing when the car heats up and louder when the car is cool due to friction. the Mitsubishi mechanic told me he concurred with my diagnosis. just for shits and giggles I called my friends that are master mechanics at Toyota and Honda. they also agreed. Her family is being told by other people that "OIL HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH TURBOS " I need some backing from some fellow dsm owners. so I can present this to the family. all cars need oil, if air could cool a 150,000rpm turbo we would all have them. oh wait were dsm owners we do!
