on my 95 gs i bought a short ram intake off ebay and i am going to install it today, but i heard that i have to disconnect my battery for 10-15 min to reset my ecu?? is that correct?? then what do i have to do?? how will that make a difference?? thanks for your help.

I wouldn't reset your ECU. Every time your ECU gets reset, it needs to start from square one for your fuel maps. It has 2 maps, a stored one that never gets erased, and one that is constantly changing with condition of engine, ambient temps, humidity, etc. Your computer will adjust itself accordingly.

That being said, some people still do reset their ECU after mods. Its not gonna kill anything either way.

When my ECU gets reset, the only difference I see is a rough idle for maybe 200 miles, and lower gas mileage for about a tank or two while the ECU re-learns my MAFT settings.

Thats the point of resetting the ECU.

When you mod a car you change the way the engine acts. He has a cold air intake so not only will his intake temps drop and he will have a more dense charge, but he will also see a larger volume of air. The computr needs to compensate for that with more fuel. When he disconnects the ECU then reconnects it will learn to think with the larger amount of air.

It can only help and takes 30 seconds at most so why not do it.
