Power steering affecting RPMs???

Alrihgt well i was just about to leave my driveway the other day and i noticed if i have the clutch in all the way or when i just keep it in neutral and if i turn the wheel all the way to the right or left completely the rpms would drop a little bit. i dont understand why would the steering would affect the rpms?? the car runs beautifully though no problems just wondering why this would happen.

I think they all do that, I'm pretty sure mine does it sometimes..

The power steering pump is run off an accesory belt that is engien driven. When you turn the wheel it puts a load on the pump and the pump puts a load on the motor. That is why you RPM drop just a hair. After that the IAC takes over and bump the RPM back to were it should be.

-On the power steering pump, there's a P/S oil pressure switch, the ECU monitor load on the pump so it(ECU) can adjust the RPM accordingly as the load increase, if this RPM drop problem only occure when you turn the wheel and nothing else effect the RPM ie: turning on the A/C..., then make sure the wire on the front of the power steering pump is hook up or check the sensor, if RPM also drop if you turn on the A/C, then consider checking out the ISC.
