new alternator, now belt is hella loose, battery light on, squeak

i've only had my 91 tsi for about a month and a half, and right before i bought the car, the previous owner put in a lifetime warranty autolite alternator. well, it went out on me 3 days ago, so i switched it out for a new one.

the new one's in, and now the belt is loose as hell, and it's got a death squeak. the battery light and the yellow to the left of the column are on. i made sure the battery was fully charged before putting it back in. last time those two lights came on at idle, it died on me in rush hour traffic on a hill. fun times. this is really starting to make me question whether i made the right decision in buying a dsm. thanks for any replies.

you need to tighten the belt........DUH
The yellow light, looks like a mosoleum?, coolant overflow bottle wants some water

i think my car has a twin, check the cable that clips into the alternator, and if its not lookse your alt is probably dead. i have had 4 alternators so far and the best ones i found are just stock ones that havnt died yet, but if your belt is loost then i would try to retighten the belt and make sure that u got the side bolt tight after the belt is tight, if it comes looke then the belt will slowly loosen.
